Aug. 2008, here we are again in Sechelt for three weeks. Time is going so quick. We try to pick our activities that have some learning value to them. Our family has homeschooled for the last 4 years now. It requires commitment and dedication by everyone for homeschooling to work well! Homeschooling also gives us a bit more freedom to travel with Frank throughout the year.
We visited old Cambrian Chieftan mine on the top of Mount Hallowell. The kids had a great time looking at pyrites, copper and maybe even some gold viens..........
Part of getting along is learning to communicate in a way that allows everyone to feel heard. My favourite Author is Marshal Rosenberg, and his book "Nonviolent Communication". His ideas and thoughts have been a real treasure to me and very insightful. He also writes may smaller "booklettes" on compassionate communication, anger, parenting, and resolving conflict, all using the NVC priciples! Have you ever tried really listening and connecting with your kids when they are talking to you.....a real "in the moment" with them? Sounds easy but in practice it is really hard to be there, patient, listening, understanding, empathising!!!! Ok, more evidence that our lives are a real work in progress........
