Volunteering at Ikhaya has been a huge learning curve, challenge and joyous, from the heart
experience! We head out there every Tuesday and Friday afternoons to help do anything and everything you can imagine.....just as us mom's can't really define our days the same goes for the daily life at Ikhaya. I wouldn't be able to be a part of Ikhaya if my family was not as supportive and encouraging as they are. Nicole helps out with the babies; holding, cuddling, wiping tears, feeding and just being with them. The boys help out by playing outside without fighting and killing each other (and the dogs, and the other kids and the....) which is a huge help! I am so thankful for my supportive and loving family! I love you to bits!
This is Melanie Grant. Melanie and husband Sean are the founders/creators/spiritual force behind Ikhaya. She homeschools her three boys which of course was a huge hit with our family right away!
We have met so many wonderful and loving people through Ikhaya, people who are so willing to just give of themselves day after day! Angel is saying "hats off to everyone at Ikhaya!" The black and white photo is of Lizl, she is from SA and is the OT (occupational therapist) for the kids. Next is Bertie, one of the international volunteers from Germany but lives in Italy. She is amazing and can speak 4 languages fluently!
Daniel is from Saskatchewan, it was awesome to meet another Canadian here so I could finally say "Eh!" and get a response!
Claire is from Seattle and what energy she has! Claire is going to single handedly organize and create a system for the office in a matter of days.....once that printer arrives! Go Claire!

My name is Martin and I am writing to you on behalf of a website that I am currently involved in starting up. We aim to provide prospect volunteers with all the information they need in order to feel confident in their choice of organisation, position and destination, as well as inspire people to make the jump and try out volunteering.
